Another smallest smartphone in the World

ASUS claims that its P305 is the smallest Ms Winodows Mobile 5.0 smartphone in the world. This phone is targete to work in 3G networks. Windows Mobile 5.0 with Direct Push Technology gives ability to instant updating of Microsoft Office Outlook Email, Calendar, Contacts and Tasks when synchronizing with MS Exchange Server. The P305 also runs Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player 10 Mobile so it can play MP3, AMR, AAC, WAV and WMA, as well as streaming MPEG-4 video. Connectivity consists of Bluetooth 1.2 and IrDA. Memory expanded with use of the mini-SD expansion card slot.

Again leaked photos have been published in the net of new Nokia smartphones. At this time it were N73 and N93 models. N73 model have to replace N70 Symbian smartphone. It will have upgraded camera with 3.2 Megapixel sensot and Carl-Zeiss optic. The phone will work in 3G and UMTS networks. N93 model will replace N92 smartphone. Camera will be the same as in N73 but with 3x optical zoom. Both models are based on Symbian OS 9.0 and Series 60 3rd Edition, have support of Bluetooth 2.0. N93 phone will work in GPRS, EDGE and UMTS/WCDMA networks with support Wi-Fi.

The smallest Windows® Mobile smartphone

Malai company Fifth Media has presented its new product - the smallest Windows Mobile 5 smartphone in the world. The size of this phone is 20.8 x 48.8 x 113.3 mm.
The name of this new product is AXIA A308. It supports GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz networks with GRPS and EDGE technologies. Also this phones have support of Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11b) and Bluetooth technologies. Fifth Media has used Intel PXA272 processor with working frequency 416 MHz. Other features is 1.3 megapixel camera, 128 Mb of the flash memory, and 64 Mb of RAM. The memory can be expanded by using miniSD cards. The phone have screen with resolution 240 х 320 pixels and can play WAV, WMA, and MP3 files.

This phone will be presented on CeBIT 2006 in Hannonver.

Antivirus now preinstalled on Symbian S60 3Ed. devices

Nokia has announced that F-Secure Mobile Anti-Virus will be available through Nokia to the users of new devices based on S60 3rd Edition - Nokia N71, Nokia E60, Nokia E61 and Nokia E70. More info here.

Sony Ericsson K800i Wilma

It looks like there are new Sony Ericsson K800i phone “Wilma”. It will be a successor of the K750i. It will support a 3.2 megapixel camera, 176х220 display, 466MB of internal memory, conference camera, EDGE/UMTS network and Bluetooth support. The appearance of the new phone is on the picture.

Secret of full-duplex audio on Nokia 6630 and 6680 has been revealed

Finally we can find out how to use full-duplex audio on Symbian Series 60 2ed. FP3 phones. As they say here Nokia has released on its Forum Pro site such example in 9 November. It' named Full-Duplex Audio Example. Details of this example we can learn very soon when somebody will publish such a code.

Opera have released new version of browser for Symbian Series 60

Opera Software have released the new version of its Opera Mobile browser for Symbian Series 60 (S60). Opera 8.5 for S60 boasts high speed, Opera's wide range of features and a new password manager for automatic log-in to sites. The browser also features Opera's advanced zoom-on-page functionality which means that users can zoom in or out to view images and text.
Opera 8.5 for S60 also includes customizable keypad shortcuts, enhanced image handling and more extensive language support. There is new languages in Opera. Opera also have its Small-Screen Rendering (SSR) technology, which dynamically reformats full Web pages for mobile devices to give the best possible user-experience. SSR keeps as much of the original page design and layout as possible while gently adapting the page to fit the width of the screen, eliminating the need to scroll around horizontally.
Also Opera 8.5 can correctly run AJAX web pages, what is very helpful in modern web.
Opera browser is shareware software with 14-days trial period. After this you can buy Opera 8.5 to continue using the browser. Opera 8.5 is a free upgrade to owners of previous versions of Opera. For example, on some models of Nokia phones Opera browser is preinstalled and you don't have to pay for upgrade.

Symbian mobile phones: Semapedia - wikipedia in real life

Project Semapedia hosted on the site semapedia.org is created to connect the virtual and physical world by bringing information from the Internet to the relevant place in physical space. Source of information proposed to be a Wikipedia. The project works in this way:

- you have to create a Semacode which contains URL to Wikipedia site. You can do it online on their site;



- then you have to print this semacode tag and place it on a real world object, for example on the Microsoft headquarter in Redmond;



- now anyone who wants to get information about this thing can use mobile software for Nokia cameraphones with Symbian OS;
- you have to install this software reader on the phone and launch it; (also there are readers for J2ME cameraphones)



- now you can point the camera of your phone at semacode tag and load page from Wikipedia about this object.

This project can become wide popular because of its simplicity and usefulness. Lets wait awhile.

With Wireless Presenter you can use your Nokia 6680 to control PowerPoint presentations, music players and other Windows applications.
